Ebbets Field opened on April 9, 1913
in Brooklyn, NY. It was the home of the much loved baseball team, the
Brooklyn Dodgers. Baseball's first televised baseball game was played at
Ebbets Field by the Dodgers on August 26, 1939 against the Reds. Jackie
Robinson was the first black man in the 20th century to play in Major
League Baseball at the field on April 15, 1947. The last game was held
September 24, 1957, the year the team left for California. Ebbets Field
was demolished on February 23, 1960.
