If you own a Samsung NX200 digital camera, you may be interested in this custom made clip-on cable-release mount. You’ll have control of the shutter release beyond the usual finger-press or self-timer.
The NX200 lacks an infrared and USB cable release option, so accessory maker Richard Franiec designed an arm that extends from the hot shoe to the shutter release button. It includes a thread to screw in a standard mechanical cable release.
Precision machined from black Delrin, the adapter uses the hot shoe as a stable anchor to perfectly position the cable release point over the shutter button. The adapter does not interfere with the On/Off lever or other vital camera controls. However, you cannot use an external flash at the same time as the cable release.
Locking focus by half-pressing the shutter using the cable release is, according to Richard, very well controlled.
Why cable release is not included
It should be noted that the cable release is not included. You can choose your own according to brand, length or style. All standard cables should work with this adapter, including old ones you may have lying around in a drawer.
Custom crafted, quality made
While I don’t own the Samsung NX200, I’m a big fan of Richards custom accessories. I use his grips on my Canon S90 and S100, and his custom hot shoe cover on my DSLR. They are custom crafted and quality made.
Working with Richard is a delight, whether you have general inquiries or need additional help installing or uninstalling an accessory. He is always responsive and very helpful.
