Lowepro Rezo 30 camera pouch

Written by Gail Bjork

When a pocket simply won’t do, the Lowepro Rezo 30 pouch may be exactly what you need to carry a small compact digital camera.

Some digital cameras are so small that it’s quite natural to slip one into a shirt or pants pocket. But even the tiniest digital camera needs more protection than a pocket at times.

In recent years, I’ve looked at camera bags and pouches of all sizes, shapes and brands. I keep coming back to those made by Lowepro. Lowepro makes affordable, high quality bags with attention to detail and features that every photographer, from casual to pro, can appreciate.

I’ve used the Lowepro Rezo 30 since I first bought it for my ultra compact Canon SD700. Still looking brand new after three years of use, the pouch now houses my Canon s90, and will house my Canon S100.

This well-padded pouch has enough room to carry the camera plus a few small accessories. It has a small pocket that can hold an extra memory card, spare battery and even a few dollars and a credit card.

More recent versions of the Rezo 30 have changed somewhat, but the pouches are still as functional and quality-made as ever. They have front zippered compartment for holding accessories and a rear, zippered compartment for holding the camera. My version closes with velcro and the accessories compartment is not separate but under the main flap.

Carrying the Lowepro Rezo 30

The Rezo 30 has an adjustable shoulder strap that is very easy to remove from the case when needed. The strap has full-rotation hooks, which prevent the twisting and tangling that frequently occurs when carrying a lightweight camera pouch.

The Rezo 30 also includes a secure belt loop. It has the typical Velcro closure found on camera pouches but it also has a snap closure. When used together, the Velcro and snap closure ensure the bag won’t suddenly fall off the belt loop when on the go.

For the fashion conscious, the Rezo 30 comes in four colors in addition to Black: Slate Grey, Red, Burnt Orange and Leaf Green.

What I like about the Lowepro Rezo 30

  • High quality materials; water-resistant.
  • Well padded, well-designed, well balanced.
  • Includes a pocket to carry a few small accessories.
  • When using the belt loop, the pouch can be removed without taking off your belt.
  • Inexpensive, though color pouches may cost more than black.

What I dislike about the Rezo 30

  • The Velcro can fray some camera hand straps

Buying tip: If you plan to purchase the Rezo 30 online, don’t assume it will accommodate your digital camera. Even if a camera is small, there can be variations in design. If unsure about the fit, visit the Lowepro site and use their Quick Product Finder before buying.

  • I was looking for a soft case for my new S90 and could not decide Rezo 20 or 30 until reading this page.  Thank you.

  • Looks like a very nice case. I just ordered a Crumpler “Thirsty Al” pocket/case in a size medium for my new S90. If it doesn’t work-out I will definitely be after a LowePro!
